Water Discoloration
Each spring, the City of White Bear Lake flushes fire hydrants to maintain the integrity of its water system by clearing sediment from the lines to keep the system refreshed. Flushing also pro-actively identifies hydrants in need of repair.
As a result of this routine maintenance, residents may experience temporary discoloration of their water consisting primarily of harmless silt and precipitates. This discoloration does not affect the safety of the water. If you experience discoloration in your water after crews have been flushing in your neighborhood, clear the pipes in your home by running all water faucets for up to 15 minutes or more.
If you have additional questions, please email us or call the water treatment plant at 651-779-5106.
